Putting out regular content without a game plan did not work like I thought it would this year. Even though my plan did not work like I wanted it to, I feel like I learned a whole lot and I'm glad I was able to start something that I always wanted to do. When I look towards 2023, I keep thinking about how so many people still stay away from reading the Old Testament. We spend hundreds of dollars watching prequel movies and spend time reading blog posts and watch Youtube videos on the backstory of movies like Star Wars and Harry Potter but reading the Old Testament to find out the back story of why the birth of Jesus was so important is a completely crazy thought. When I thought about those things, I think about how maybe it's just easier to spend time on those things because we have someone to follow. Someone's point of view to look through as we read or watch something. If you are fan of Harry Potter, you know that the movies have tons of interesting characters, but in the end, it's all about Harry! That got me thinking, what if I picked a perspective to follow in the Old Testament and followed it. I could look at everything as if I was Moses, but at some point, he passes everything off to Joshua. That's when I made the complicated decision to focus on God's chosen people. These are the same people that were slaves in Egypt and then took forever to get to the Promised Land. These are the same people who were part of the 12 tribes, and then split up into two kingdoms. These are the same people who stopped following God and ended up getting exiled from their land. Can I find a way to make that journey in 2023? Starting in one week, January 3rd, I want to start on that journey and look at the Old Testament through the eyes of God's chosen people.
